The Man, the Legend, the Podcast

Codex Ambrosianus
Some more source material on Seneca. Firstly a very good article form the Stanford Online Encyclopedia of Philosophy - Seneca - which is quite informative, relatively up to date with good source references and bibliography.

If you are interested in listening to a podcast on Seneca, there is a rather good philosophy series (available on iTunes and from the website) called The History of philosophy by Peter Adamson of King's College, London. the episode dealing with Seneca is called Anger Management: Seneca and is again worth checking out. Peter Adamson has a very in depth style and quite entertaining as well.

  1. Thanks for the links, Stephen. I listened to the Epicurus podcasts today (ideal for when I'm strimming and mowing!) and they seemed really good. Might work my way through them all.

I seem to be the only person who has suggested any of Seneca's letters. Are there any other ideas?

  2. I will be posting my take on the selections soon as a seperate post. I think your choices are good ones so I am going to put those on the list and add to it with a couple of mine I would like to look at. I have invited all to be authors (you in fact are on the author list) so in theory anyone can log in and make their own additions to the blog. It does seem as though its just us two at the moment but I heard today that Simone is planning a post!

  3. The podcast is a great one and I can fully recommend the ancient series.I didn't listen to all of the Chhurch Fathers section but might tune in again for philosophy of the Muslim World. He is doing some odds and end at the moment..but yes he is very interesting and amusing.
